A Soldier's Prayer
I deploy to Afghanistan this week -- with a return expected February, 2008. Please pray for not only my safety, but also the safety of the 70 international NATO soldiers (from 12 different countries) working for me. I am honored and blessed to lead such fine men. My heart's desire is that all of them return home alive and well.
Also pray that I and the other Christians will be a good witness. I would ask the Lord of Hosts to go before us -- to shield and guide us in all that we put our hands to. Prayer is the key ingredient here. It is a hard battle -- everyday there are casualties. Keep praying for us! We need wisdom, discernment, and knowledge to predict what the enemy will do and where he will operate.
Please also pray for our families we leave at home -- for their safety and comfort. We will be gone during Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, special events with our children, and many other important dates -- such as my (and Rebbie's) 20th wedding anniversary!
