Have You Left Your First Love?
I was talking to a young woman who was distraught because of the choices she had made and the resulting circumstances. Instead of merely dealing with her symptoms, I addressed the root problems in her life.
Initially, she only wanted God’s help in changing her adverse situation, but soon realized the real answer was in knowing Him.
I shared two important scriptures she needed to keep in mind: “But seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things [what you really need] will be given to you as well” (Matthew 6:33) and “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart” (Psalm 37:4).
After explaining she had left her “First Love” I shared how she could have that relationship restored and her life put back in order. Her tears stopped and her face lit up as she realized the Lord Jesus was the answer for her life and destiny. It was now so obvious to her but had been so obscured because of how far she had drifted.
The Lord was eager to forgive and have this renewed relationship with His child. Daily Bible study, prayer, and living by biblical principles were the keys she discovered to restore her walk with the Lord and get her life back under control.
